While early looks at Leopard have provided focus on the major features announced by Apple, the following minor features may prove to be interesting to day-to-day Mac users. Reports of the Leopard Developer's preview is that it is remarkably solid, and the user interface is more responsive ("snappier") than Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4).

Reports indicate that the Finder and Front Row are exactly the same as the Tiger versions, suggesting that unannounced improvements could be in store for them by Leopard's final release.

This would represent an more "end-to-end" business model described by Walk Mossberg (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/05/20060511102446.shtml) that has brought Apple a lot of success with their Music Store/iTunes/iPod integration.

No, RAM from any PPC Mac won't work in any Intel Mac. Apple use a different type of RAM in their Intel machines and whilst all Intel Macs (aside from the Mac Pro) use the same type of RAM the same isn't true of the old PPC Macs.

Your 1GB stick won't work at all.

Cheers - I suspected as much.

Looking forward to replacing it next year tho' - by then under �1500 is going to go along way - plus my wife qualifies for a discount because she works for the NHS.

If the prices havn't changed as mentioned above then this may make some people who were thinking of getting macbooks justify paying the extra for the pro, it seems more worth while now. I was in that position in june but I went for the Macbook.

We've got South Coast, Irvine, and Brea, maybe another one I'm forgetting.

*And typing this post on my last purchase - an HP mini 1030nr that I just hackintoshed...everything works great! A little macbook air for $90 bucks! Very happy right now!

Not quite. Q1 exceeded everyone expectations financially. But it was the appearance of slowing iPod sales that scared everyone. The reason that Apple made its numbers is because Mac sales were extremely strong and covered the slowing iPod growth.

That and the very weak guidance for Q2 would scare a lot of investors who thought that Apple was a safe haven.

The slowing iPod sales are the CW reason why the stock has gone down. But anytime you read what the reason for a market action is, you should be skeptical.

My view is that Apple's stock was simply overheated due to all of its publicity this year, and the Street was looking for a reason to cool it off, given the prevailing market conditions.

I don't think in another time the iPod numbers alone would have done that. Margins are higher on macs and mac sales are up -- and that didn't move the number up.

The market is bad, people are still shy of tech stocks in a bad market (rightly so), Apple has been on a long winning streak and people are starting to wonder. i also think there's a lot of "amateur" demand for Apple that was moving the stock up on all of their hype, without much of a look at the fundamentals. Those people aren't buying stocks right now.

But, as I said, be skeptical because what I'm saying probably is just another view that gets lost in the noise of the market movements.

It would be nice, if the user could change the windows (UI) color in MacOS X like this can already be done in Windows / Linux.

So, that you could change the grey look to something else. They could integrate the color chooser, like you have, when you work with fonts etc.

After all, Mac is sold to consumers, so why not give them the choise of colors, at least in their programs, if their computers are cold/neutrla grey/silver/white colored?

When we say "enough" and "runs fine" we are thinking of apps that require minimal standards. Man, when we are talking about at least quality games such as WoW, SC2, and MMO's, the difference between 320m and the Intel GPU is the difference between "playable and not playable"


my mbp 13" i5 plays those games just fine.
