thanks for continuing to screw us 3gS owners over Apple...

My phone is on its last leg, dropping calls all of the time, have to charge it 3 times a day. If I had known this, I would have already bought a 4...

why can't you buy an iPhone 4 right now and enjoy it?

Apple did not promise or confirm any release date... it could be in 1 month or 8 months or more... if you pay too much credence to these rumors from Taiwan and blogs from 'analysts' that forecasts dates end features then you'll be disappointed.

(BTW, Apple did not confirm any features either, so if you do wait for the ip5, hoping that'll it'll be alot better in some way, you still may disappointed).

I honestly don't upgrade date was timed almost perfectly with the release of the iPhone 4 last year (Upgraded in late July once the damn phone was actually available without having to beat up hipsters in line IIRC), and unless they offer early upgrade deals better than what they have the last couple of years, I wouldn't be eligible to upgrade anyway. The iPad has taken up all of my iOS gaming, so really all I need an iPhone to do is be an iPod and use reference apps on the go (maps, wikipedia, soundhound, imdb, recipes, safari, banking, ebay, amazon, etc). Maybe one or two small games for Dr's office waiting rooms like Tiny Wings or Angry Birds, but I'm pretty sure the iPhone 4 will be able to handle that demanding load for years to come....

I'm even open to an iPhone lite- I don't need a powerhouse in my pocket and if I save some money, good deal.

I think some people here think this is suddenly going to allow us to drag an image from our desktop to the .Mac mail page, and attach it to a new message. That isn't what they are describing as "drag and drop". They are talking about moving messages around in the web browser window.

Is there anyway to change an app icon from a app store-purchased app on the iPad 2? (Without a jailbreak, obviously)

Nobody really answered my question. I hate to repost it again just trying to find an answer. I tried to call the at&t rep and they don't know what going on.

I had iPhone 3GS 32GB had it about almost a year. They let me do an early upgrade for the new iPhone 4 in June when it came out for the price of $299 with a two year agreement.

The question I have is let just say the new iPhone 5 comes out with the same price point let say June release like last year. By this new $50 thing does that mean I pay for $549 price point or can I just pay the $299 plus the two year agreement like I did last year?

    Thanks guys

If the iPhone were to come out in June, you would not be able to get the $299 price with a new two year agreement. You would have to pay the $549 if you want the new phone immediately.

The reason that AT&T was so generous with their upgrades last summer is because they knew that the iPhone was coming to Verizon and they wanted to lock in as many new two year contracts as possible.

Here's what you do if you want the $299 price and you are not eligible:

    1) Open a new line on your account. That will get you the new iPhone and the $299 price. You will have to get a new number tough.

    2) Next, call and cancel the line on your 3gs. The ETF should be about $205.

    3) Sell your iPhone 4 on Ebay or Craigslist. If it's in really good shape, you should be able to get $400-$450 easy. This will cover your ETF and leave you about $200 extra.

The tech at the Cingular store told me it would be next year before 5 will appear. Not sure how reliable that is or where he got his info. I asked him how sure of that he was. He stated he was very sure.

He knows about as much as the rest of us.

    For stating the truth?

Sorry... they don't sit in a room and strategize on how to mess with Jail Breakers. Sorry... they don't. They are just trying to address some bugs in the current release and that's a good thing.

Yes... it will probably break the JB... but that is your risk and your decision to JB. So, yes... my original post stands.

Lotus Notes, a high-visibility enterprise class communications suite by IBM, will receive improved Macintosh support ( according to Mike Rhodin, general manager of IBM's Lotus group speaking to CRN.

"We have millions of Notes seats on the Mac now, and some very large customers are active in the beta and are very vocal about that," Rhodin said in an interview with CRN. "The Mac is a resurgent platform."

In addition, the next release will receive iNotes compatibility for Macs. Sametime 7.5 (, IBM's enterprise instant messaging solution (including VoIP support) also includes Macintosh client support.

Many in the Mac community have been wondering whether Apple's Intel switch would bring forth increased interest from enterprise customers. Rhodin's comments can't be taken to represent the entire enterprise Mac market of course, but they can represent an interesting insight into how well the Mac version of a product that is used by government and many large corporations is doing.

Don't be daft, Samsung are the suppliers because they gave the best price.

Samsung will also be locked into supply contracts anyway, and they interfered with them, Samsung would be in a world of hurt, not just from Apple and litigation, but every other company they supply.

And don't you believe there aren't alternatives for Apples component supplies either - every company that can build something that Samsung already does has been on the phone this week to Apple.

The end result in all of this is that Samsung are putting at risk an $8bn turnover for copying a customers phone design.

Even if Samsung win any of these suits, Samsung will lose the $8bn turnover, and will hand their component rivals the same amount.

The question at the end of the day is whether the Galaxy/Tab/S/S2 are really worth $8bn a year - which they aren't.

So who loses? Samsung every time.

Heres the clue - never sue your customer.

And you are just proving how little you understand the market in that area.
You forget that those parts Samsung supplies there is a SHORTAGE of them on the open market. Apple can not afford to loose Samsung because no one else has the production to replace them. It would cost Apple a lot more money to replace them. Samsung on the other had because of the shortage sell for a greater amount to other companies.

Apple may be a first tear buying in that area but they still are a minor player in terms of over all buyers. Samsung is a major player in that market.

So I received my Belkin Grip Vue Tint today in the mail. The tightness is very nice with my BSE Full Body Skin. However, like many other cases the lip at the bottom (between Home Button and Dock Connector) is loose because of the thinness of it. So I was just wondering how well the TPU is going to hold up right there? I mean TPU shouldn't stretch out and isn't it pretty strong? I just don't want that part to break just from taking my iPod in and out of my pocket.

Let me know if you have any questions on the bag. I'm going to put it on eBay if there's no interest - just though I'd post it here incase someone wanted one quicker.

SevenInchScrew, I highly recommend an S2000. Great little cars. One can look really good with some tasteful mods or even bone stock it still looks good but I'd lower it a tad for a cleaner look. Either that or 5th Gen Prelude :p

No light sounds like it isn't getting any power. Are you sure it is plugged in to the power at the wall?

Have you tried another cable or USB port?

Does it make any noise at all? Can you hear the drive spinning up, or is there any clicking noise, etc?

12 PB doesn't sound like a lot for iTunes in the cloud. I mean if that's 12 million GB's that would only store about ~500,000 people with the amount of music I have. My libraries at 24GB and growing, but I know people with multiple 100 GB libraries.

And even if it's just a small 1 GB library, 12 PB would only cover 12 million people with libraries of that size, which again is small considering the sheer amount of people using iTunes/iPods/iPhones.

I would go with the 9800 also. The Geforce 6200 I have doesn't work in MDD's for some odd reason but does work in all other AGP G4 towers. The 9800 will also outperform a GF 6200.

Be sure to get a Radeon 9800 Pro rather than a regular 9800. About the same prices but the Pro is faster.
