Are you sure? By then you will get at least 1TB hard drives for 100$ (there are already 750GB drives on the market). I still would prefer the hard drive. Faster data access and easier handling...

To me I think Discs need to me eliminated in all forms. No blue Ray no HD-DVD no dual layer anyhting.
Lets just use memory sticks and Hard drives.
Can you imagine if You Car stero no longer had CD player slots, but Say a new Credit Card size flash drive with 8 GBs... that'd be nice...
To me the whole Disc format in every way is a pain...

That ability is there. But rather than give its customers a choice of opting in, FT would rather sell your information without your approval.

The White IP4 will look sick, much like how awesome the white iPad 2 looks. I think the demand will still be strong for it due to all of the September IP5 rumors, and the fact that I know tons of people that have broken old iPhone are are waiting for the white to release. I would not expect crazy demand for it, but sales should be very good.

Unfortunately she has never been able to wait for anything(despite me mentioning not to buy 1st gen Apple products), so she'll probably buy the ip4 in white.

Since it reacently became freeware I have to include TextWrangler (http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/) from BareBones, an exellent free alternative to BBEdit, also from Bare Bones. This one doesn't suck,� either... ;)
Also second, Adium X (http://adiumx.com/), which is so much better than Adium was... best multi protocol IM software I've found so far...

As expected, FedEx delivered my shuffle this morning. I set mine up and noticed Apple already had a firmware update for it. Anyway, I loaded it with music and have been playing with it off and on for the past couple hours. Pretty cool little unit. I wish the spring on the clip was stronger so it would clip/bite harder, but it's not bad. I'll take it to the gym this afternoon and see how well it works.
The pictures don't do it justice. The thing is really smaller than you think it is, even looking at the pictures. So far I'm rather pleased.

Actually you can try it for free and it's fully functional as long as you only have 25 items in your library.

Your out of luck. Under no circumstances will Apple EVER replace a product with another one that is not exactly the same! Period!
While I agree that under those circumstances Apple is unlikely to make the swap I have to disprove your claim. My mom's 14 inch iBook's screen broke when our dog pulled the cord it was plugged into and knocked it to the floor (pre-magsafe days). She sent it into Apple where they so sweetly said they would repair it free of charge even though they didn't have to. It ended up taking a few weeks when they said they would have a new one for her in a couple of days. After a few times calling in to check on the status that never seemed to change, Apple sent her a brand new updated 12 inch powerbook! Another time a friend of mine spilled wine on the keyboard of his 2009 15 inch top of the line Macbook Pro. It worked for a few more months until it finally kaput. He took it into Apple just to see what they would do, not too optimistic. The Genius was awesome and gave him a brand new 2011 top of the line 15 incher!

I'm tempted to buy one just because of it's design/uniqueness and relatively low price.
"Music to my Ears" would be a good engraving, but I don't think I'd get an engraving just in case I wanted to sell it?

I'm wondering how to access your battery information through cocoa (such as your battery percentage, time remaining). I know that on iOS you access it through UIDevice, but I cannot think of an equivalent one for OS X, does anyone know?

Is there a reason why so many use Avid over FCP?
There are a number of reasons ranging from they have no compelling reason to switch away from the tool they are most comfortable with to their workflow requires things that Avid does better than FCP to they've already invested a lot of money in an Avid workflow. Off the top of my head I'd give Avid the nod for things like better multi-user environment, better shared storage solution, better media management, better multi-camera editing, better format support (AMA), better handling of mixed media timelines, and, for lack of a better term, a more refined product in terms of solely editing.
Does that mean Avid is perfect? No, far from it. Does that mean FCP is horrible in the categories I mentioned, no not necessarily (although FCP is really lacking in multi-user environments). A big reason FCP became so popular though is because it could do the majority of what Avid could do for much, much less (like $60,000 or more less back in the day). Obviously the price difference is much less now (I think Media Composer software goes for $2000 or $2500) but for many of FCP's core users that's still a huge difference.
